FG Commissions Automatic Integrated Palm Oil Processing Plant in Imo

The people of Umuehihie Okwu in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State who form part of the Imo Dependents on Agriculture, especially in the Area of Palm Oil Production have continued to express joy and appreciation to the Federal Government for establishing an Automatic Integrated Palm Oil Processing Plant in the Area.
Commissioning the Plant, the Minister of States for Niger Delta Affairs, Prof. Claudius Daramola explained that the Modern Processing Plant was built to ensure that Oil Palm is hygienically processed to high quality standard, for both Local and Export consumption, stimulate the coordination of Production of more Oil Palm, add more income to the Farmers, reduce the drudgery and wastages in the Palm Production, curb Youth Restiveness and generate employment.
He disclosed that the Federal Government is determined to curb restiveness in the Niger Delta Region through job creation and promotion of small and Medium Scale Enterprises, adding that the Automatic Integrated Palm Oil Processing Plant is in line with the Economic diversification Policy of the Federal Government.
On her part as the Imo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mrs Ugochi Nnanna Okoro, noted that Imo State Government had embarked on “ikuola Nkwu” Palm Tree Planting Campaign to enhance the Economic Fortunes of the people.
She charged the people to ensure that the Security of the Plant does not go porous, mandating the Community Safe Guard the the Installation which has the capacity of processing one ton of Palm Fruit bunches within one hour. .
However, it would be recalled that the Minister of States for Niger Delta Affairs and his team had visited the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha at the Government House, who reminded them that the main objective of establishing the Ministry was to serve as a Primary Vehicle for the execution of Government plans and Programs of rapid Socio-economic plans of the Region.
