IMHA Urge Okorocha To Ameliorate Agony On Owerri/Umuahia Road

Members of Imo State House of Assembly have unanimously urged the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to direct the State Ministry of Works to move in and end the agony of Road Users plying the Owerri/ Umuahia Road and Ngor Okpala / Enyiogugu Mbaise Bypass forthwith, as a matter of urgency.
This was the outcome of a Motion presented by the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Kenedy Ibe during Plenary.
Making a case for the Motion, the Majority Leader who is representing Obowo State Constituency, lamented that the problem of Flooding has rendered the Road leading to his Constituency, Obowo, Aboh Mbaise, Ezinihitte Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise, as well as Ihitte Uboma impassible.
“A Journey to these Constituencies which normally takes 30minutes now takes whooping three hours, to accomplish because of Flood and consequent dilapidated nature of the Roads.”
Bar. Kenedy lamented, pointed out that the situation of the Roads have increased Robbery and other related Crimes in these Roads.
Meanwhile, other members of the State House of Assembly who got the chance to air their views on the Motion, which was seconded by the Majority Leader of the House, who also represents Ahiazu Mbaise State Constituency, Hon. Ken Agbim, observed with dismay, the impassible state of the Owerri/ Umuahia Federal Road.
They decried the resultant Effects leading to such Natural Disasters as Flood and Erosion among others.
Consequently, the second Prayer of the Motion, which states that the Owerri/ Umuahia Federal Road be captured in the 2018 Appropriation Bill by the Federal Government for total Reconstruction or major Rehabilitation also sailed through without any opposition.
