AIFCE Ends Warning Strike

By Vivian Iwu

The seven day warning Strike embarked upon by the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education (AIFCE) Owerri has been called off.
The Secretary of the Joint Action Committee, Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education Owerri, Dr. Benjamin Nwokedi announced this in Oweri.
According to him, the suspension of the one week warning strike embarked upon by the Staff of the College was as a result of the refusal of the Provost, Dr Blessing Ijeoma to step down at the end of her Service Year.
However, with the intervention and mediation of the Senator representing Imo East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Chief Samuel Anyanwu the contentious issue was resolved.
He maintained that the senator’s passionate appeal to the Union to call a truss informed their decision to go back to work, adding that all the Staff of the College are expected to have resumed work on Monday, august 7, 2017.
