Minister Supervises Agencies For Nigeria’s Self-actualisation In Technology Development

All Staff working under the 17 Agencies managed by the Ministry of Science and Technology in the South East came under direct supervision by the Minister, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu to get them in tune with the latest development in the ministry. Speaking at the Technology Incubation Center Owerri, Dr Onu explained to the Young Entrepreneurs and Staff of Parastatals under his Ministry that hence forth, Foreign Companies handling Projects like  Construction of Rail Ways, Sea Ports and  Refineries in the Country must be attached to Indigenous Companies to enhance Technology Acquisition in the Country.
He said the essence of the visit was to acquaint the Staff of the new vision of the Ministry to revolutionize Science and Technology in the Country, and expressed worry on the lack of interest in the study of Mathematics and Science related Subjects among the Youths.
Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu  disclosed that the Ministry has acquired a Document that is working on the  competitiveness of Raw Materials and Product Development in the Country, including new Guidelines that would help them look inwards to develop Capacity in the Country, so that Nigeria can be a Nation  that can produce instead of being an enforcer of foreign goods or a Consumer. According to him Government will no longer tolerate the situation where raw materials are exported only to import finished goods emanating from same.
In her remark, the Manager Technology Incubation Center Owerri, Mrs Ngozi Chijioke noted that the Center was equipped to provide Technical and Marketing assistance to young Entrepreneurs, and appreciated the Minister for varying them along with the new developments.
Meanwhile the young Entrepreneurs who delighted in exhibiting some of their finished Products commended the Federal Government for establishing the Center, stressing that with more funding, many unemployed Youths would be off the Streets when engaged at the Center.
