Extension of Provost’s Tenure: AICE Commence Warning Strike

By Vivian Iwu:

Although None Academic activities were going on at the Alvan Ikeoku Federal College today, August 3, 2017, the Institution has commenced a Seven Day warning Strike.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Implementation Committee of Industrial Action, Mr Blaise Onwuagbaoke.
According to Mr. Onwuagbaoke, the Strike Action followed the refusal of the Provost, Dr Blessing Ijeoma to step down at the end of her Service Year, which ended on August, 2, 2017.
It would be recalled that the Provost was reappointed after her Tenure by the Governing Council for and additional one year, which the Union of the College said contravened the conditions of Service of the Federal Colleges of Education.
They are insisting that Dr. Ijeoma proceeds on retirement immediately while a Staff of the College is appointed as an Acting Provost.
